The Grangemouth Stroke Group meets every Thursday 10.00 am – 13.30 pm in Zetland Church Hall. The only two dates the group does not meet are in the last 2 Thursdays in December.
The aim is to provide a safe , caring environment where stroke survivors can meet together, form friendships, share experiences and take part in activities appropriate to their particular capabilities. The members themselves decide what they want to do each week.
Transport may be provided.
Tea and toast on arrival and a light lunch is provided, each of which gives the ideal opportunity to catch up on news and views.
An annual membership fee of £1.00 is payable and the weekly contribution of £4.00 is to cover the above.
The only criteria for membership is that individuals have to be able to go to the toilet unassisted.
Currently we have nine stroke survivor members, a co-ordinator and three volunteers attending each week.
The activities include the favourite Bingo, Dominoes, Jenga as well as the regular Quiz. There are also talks given by guest speakers during the winter months as well as entertainment. In the summer there are various outings when carers and /or friends join the group.
Christmas Lunch at a local restaurant is also a highlight.
